Welcome to 2017 and my first post of the year! The holiday break saw me take my last trip of 2016, which just so happened to be extremely close to home. North Stradbroke Island is located off the south east Queensland coast in the area of Moreton Bay. This picturesque island can only be reached by a barge from Cleveland on the mainland. Having basically grown up on this island, as my family would go on a holiday here nearly every summer holidays, Straddie isn’t anything new. This was however, my first time back in about 8 years, and I can honestly say, it was like I came home. Stradbroke Island has basically nothing on it, other than the most beautiful beaches, some beach houses, two corner stores and a few fish and chip shops. And that is why I love it! When on the island, a day consists of going to the beach, going for a walk, doing some baking and then oh, going to the beach again. It really is the ideal meaning of a holiday. Here are some pictures I took on the Gorge Walk. If you do plan on visiting Stradbroke I definitely recommend doing this walk. You’ll see an abundance of sea life, from turtles to stingrays and dolphins and whales (depending on the time of year), as well as kangaroos. Oh and you have to get a gelato at about 11am on Cylinder Beach- the mango and hazelnut flavours are damn close to that in Italy!
Bring on 2017! I can’t wait to see what this year has install for me and the new adventures that await.Let’s make this the best year yet!
