Kailua, located on the east coast of O’ahu, Hawaii is downright one of my most favourite places in the world. For some reason, nearly 10 months on, I have regular flashbacks and am constantly wanting to return to the beautiful destination. Kailua is a little oasis, just 30 minutes away from the tourist central, craziness that is Honolulu and Waikiki. Kailua is home to the most beautiful picturesque beaches, amazing cafes, a Whole Foods, and some fantastic boutiques, all while being surrounded by incredible mountains.
The vibe of Kailua is so calming and peaceful, with beautiful white sandy beaches, that have barely any waves, so you can literally just float. Oh and at Kailua Beach Park there are hammocks and all sorts of hanging ropes to use (they also make for a great insta op). There are nowhere near as many people as there are in Honolulu, as I don’t think many tourist know about Kailua or even want to travel out. If you are wanting food, definitely go to Nalu Health Bar & Cafe. It is home to the best Roast Beef sandwich and they also make a pretty good Acai bowl. And if you find yourself in Kailua on a Thursday evening, go to the Kailua Farmers Market for dinner. It is located in the car park, behind the Pier-1 Imports and Longs. The markets have an assortment of all types of fresh food and cuisines.
The people of Kailua are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. This town holds a very special place in my heart! I cannot wait to return!
