I think it’s about time you met my beloved Kate Spade New York Wilder backpack. Back in January of this year, I bought this beauty at the Kate Spade outlet mall in Waikele, Hawaii. I managed to get this beautiful leather backpack for an absolute steal of $150USD down from $350USD. Despite it being on sale at the time, you can still find this backpack across the internet, such as here and here. But if it doesn’t ship to you, Kate Spade do plenty of similar leather backpacks such as this one and this one.
With about 9 months of use under my belt, it’s safe to say I now have a pretty good understanding of this bag. I have the Wilder backpack in the colour pebble. At first I was a little worried about the colour, in terms of staining, but honestly it has maintained its quality really well. The only issue in regards to the colour is a small stain on the back of the backpack from when I wore a new denim dress. Now for this, I blame the dress and not the bag! The colour of this bag goes with any outfit and is perfect for winter and summer.
The quality of the leather has only gotten better over time. The more I use this bag, the softer it gets. There is one main compartment to the backpack, which is secured safely with a magnetic closure as well as the drawstring detail. I am able to fit my 13” MacBook Air in, however, I then have to forgo the magnetic closure and am then fully relying on the drawstring to keep everything safe. I have noticed as well that the drawstring closure is getting looser, in that it seems to come undone as I wear it. I think is probably the only major downfall to this bag, however, it really is only an issue when I put my laptop in. And really, a bag that allows me to put my laptop in and still looks beautiful, is an amazing feat in itself!
I honestly couldn’t recommend this bag enough. The design is simple and chic, with only small branding on the front (which I love). I think I’ve finally found the perfect uni bag! The inside of the bag features a zipped section at the back, as well as two small pockets for your phone and lipsticks. This bag fits a lot of stuff (I’m talking a DSLR, a jumper, an umbrella, daily essentials, a water bottle and more!) yet never feels uncomfortable. You’re able to finish off a killer outfit with a beautiful bag and bonus, you get to be hands free. It really is a win win situation!
