For years I had the constant struggle of my face eating my makeup throughout the day. So, to combat such a struggle, I started to use a setting powder all over my face. But I quickly came to the realisation that I had dry skin and well, let’s face it, using powder on dry skin doesn’t result in a very good look. Now that years have gone by, I feel as though I have finally figured out how to have budge proof makeup for dry skin.
My first real tip comes in the form of an illuminating, hydrating primer. Primers are not just for oily skin to combat shiny skin, no no no, there are an absolute range of primers on the market for all different skin types. My favourite primer that I have discovered so far, is the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer. Firstly, the texture is incredible as it feels so cooling and almost like water. The formula illuminates the skin in a subtle, but definitely, noticeable way. It, in no way, makes you look like a disco ball (bonus)! In addition to being hydrating and illuminating, it makes the way in which your foundation goes on over top, so much nicer. It makes it blend better and stops any dry patches from forming. Oh and it makes your makeup last a bit longer!
My second product is probably my favourite. The Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray has made an enormous amount of difference to the wear time of my makeup. This setting spray ensures your makeup isn’t eaten up by your face, whilst controlling any shine you may have. Basically, it is liquid powder but so much better. My makeup literally lasts all day when I use this but it doesn’t leave my makeup feeling heavy or cakey. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough! Another favourite is the MakeUp Forever Setting Spray if you have access to it.
